Q |
My roof currently has 2 layers of roofing on it. Can I have a third layer installed over the top of these? |
|
A |
It depends on which governing city or county the building is in. City and county codes are often times very different. Sometimes the type of existing roofing material you have, as well as the type that you are wanting to have installed will determine this too. It is generally better to have all existing roofing material removed down to the plywood decking. If you are working with an insurance claim, most insurance companies will require the existing roofing material be removed down to the plywood decking. Our professional sales staff can answer all of your questions regarding certain city and county code requirements. |
Q |
We recently had a hail storm where I live. How do I tell if my roof sustained any wind or hail damage? |
|
A |
If you suspect that your roof may have wind or hail damage to it, contact a roofing specialist to stop by and give you an assessment of any damages that may have occurred. With reputable companies this is usually a free service. Often times hail damage to a roof is not always as obvious as you might think. Once you’ve had a roofing specialist look at your roof and you suspect that hail damage is evident, it is a good idea to have your insurance company send out a claims adjuster to evaluate the extent of the damage. Depending on the type of homeowners policy you have, often times a new roof can be covered by your homeowners insurance. |
Q |
The estimates I have received for my hail damaged roof are all different than what I received from my insurance company. What should I do? |
|
A |
This is a very common occurrence. Many times an insurance adjustment claim and a roofing company’s bid will be different. Sometimes there will be a discrepancy on how many square feet a roof is. Sometimes things are not always seen by an adjuster or the roofing estimator. There can be varying interpretations on how some items need to be handled. This is where we will get actively involved with working with your insurance company. A good roofing contractor and your insurance company can usually come to an agreement on what needs to be done to assure you that you are getting your roof done correctly, and to the fullest extent of the coverage you have with your homeowners policy. |
